More about my story

Hey, I’m Jesse. I want to help people. That’s really where all of this comes from. I like knowing that something I spent time on made someone’s day easier, helped them get something started, or gave them support when they needed it. I want that to be a bigger part of how I spend my life.

A lot of that comes from my family and the experiences we’ve had. My twin brother, Cole, went through treatment for a rare cancer. When someone you love is going through something like that, you want so badly to help. You don’t always know what to do, but you keep looking for ways to be useful. I started Project SEFU to support families facing rare cancers because I wanted to do what I could for people going through something similar.

I also co-founded Go Long for Luke, a flag football fundraiser for autism awareness that has raised more than $3 million. I’m proud of what we’ve been able to do together. Being involved has shown me how many people are willing to give their time and energy when they care about something. It makes me want to keep doing my part.

That’s the feeling behind Unmuted. There are people who have dedicated so much of themselves to helping others, and I want to help them, too. I want to hear about the nonprofit you started, the people you care about, and the thing you’ve been hoping to make happen but haven’t had the funding for yet.

I recently graduated from Ohio State, and I’m bringing my experience in nonprofits, marketing, and research into this work. If I can take some of the grant research and application work off your plate, that’s one way I can contribute. I’ll take the time to understand your organization and be honest with you about where I think I can help.

Unmuted is just me, Jesse. You don’t need a polished pitch to reach out. Tell me what you’re working on and where you’re stuck, and we can start there.

Is Unmuted right for you?

You have a nonprofit or community project you care about, and you could use help finding funding and getting applications together.

You’re willing to share information, review drafts, and work together over time. You don’t need previous grant experience or a perfectly written plan to start a conversation.

Grant decisions belong to the funder, so funding is never guaranteed.

Questions welcome.

What are you hoping
to make possible?

You don’t need a polished pitch.
